Style Across the Aisle is a first-of-its-kind bipartisan fashion runway show where public officials model looks by local designers from their districts, boroughs, and communities.
Held annually during New York Fashion Week, Style Across the Aisle brings together elected leaders, independent designers, nonprofit partners, civic institutions, media, small businesses, and community members for an evening rooted in creativity, connection, and civic pride.
Founded by Skye Ostreicher, a New York civic and media leader who has spent more than a decade working across government, culture, media, and community, Style Across the Aisle was created around a simple belief: fashion is a bridge.
By pairing public leaders with designers from their own communities, the show celebrates local talent, uplifts creative entrepreneurship, and creates space for people across the political spectrum to come together in a spirit of joy rather than division.
Since its launch, Style Across the Aisle has welcomed leaders from across New York public life and has taken place in historic civic landmarks including Gracie Mansion and Manhattan's Surrogate's Court. Each year, the show elevates nonprofit partners whose work reflects the event's broader mission of community, opportunity, and civic connection.
Style Across the Aisle is proof that unity can take center stage — and that fashion can be more than what we wear. It is a platform for local talent, a celebration of public service, and a reminder that democracy is strongest when people have a reason to show up for one another.
This website is the official online home of Style Across the Aisle. It exists to give designers, public officials, nonprofit partners, sponsors, press, and guests one clear place to learn about the show, apply to take part, and stay connected between editions. Visitors can read the story behind the event, browse an archive of past shows, review press coverage, explore nonprofit partnerships, and find answers to common questions about tickets, participation, and accessibility. Registration requests, partnership inquiries, and press requests submitted through the site are reviewed directly by the event team.
The site is built and maintained by the Style Across the Aisle team, led by founder Skye Ostreicher and supported by a volunteer steering committee of civic, media, and creative professionals who give their time across public affairs, brand development, production, and community organizing. The show itself is created in partnership with independent designers from across New York City and the nonprofit organizations whose work reflects the event's mission.
